Jai Golu Dev! On the backside of giant trucks (in kitschy colours, no less). Jai Mata Di! And funnily, as I discovered, in tiny bells hanging from sun visors in taxis. The man and the machine. I met @rishadmehta many The man and the machine. I met @rishadmehta many years ago when we were both on assignment but I've known of him much longer. Even before I started out as a travel writer, every month I would scour the bylines for his name. It was a delight to chance upon his articles-funny, fabulous, fantastical. He was the benchmark. One of the finest and foremost travel writers in the country. A pleasure to read and a master wordsmith, weaving magic and spinning yarns with laugh-out-loud bits that would make you snort. Over the years I have come to know him as a wonderful friend, bundles of fun and far cooler than I could ever hope to be. He has given me the best writing advice yet- sit down and write. Those fidgety feet have explored chappa-chappa of Bombay. Whenever I visit, I wait to see what nugget he'll share with me. He is as passionate about traveling as he ever was, as intently devoted to the craft and as resolutely determined to embark on hair-raising journeys not for the faint-hearted His appetite for adventure remains unrivalled (he's almost killed me on his bike, which he'll obviously deny). From fangirling over his articles to exploring old Bombay together, what a long way we've come. More power to you, Rishad, and many many more miles on your clock! 🤗 Oh, and Happy Navroz! 😇🙏
