Life is the same everywhere.
It really is. Same old. Ho-hum, hum-drum.
When you travel, you don’t see a place from the perspective of a local.
For a traveller, everything is new, and fresh, and exciting. it’s the thrill of the first time.
But if you stay longer, you’ll start to quickly fill in the blanks from memory, while your mind is somewhere else.
Which is why most locals don’t see a place from the eyes of a tourist. They don’t understand what the fuss is all about.
i call it the “glaze over effect”. it’s what happens when your eye- and perspective- becomes attuned to something. You stop noticing it.
Like when your eyes glaze over and your mind wanders off at a boring lecture.
Everyday is on auto-pilot, ho-hum, hum-drum.
And you wish you were somewhere else, because *sheesh* this place sucks.
Sometimes, all that’s needed is to shake your head. Rub your eyes and look around. You’ll start to see the magic again.
You’ll start noticing things- in your own backyard- you’d forgotten were even there.
That’s it. All you have to do is give your head a little shake.
How cool it that?
